Operation 9 - Tusken Raiding

Stopped by raiders before it's now time to turn the tables.

Summary

During the penultimate day of the competition in Mian, we attempted to recce and clear the area around our latest fossil discovery, resulting in a prolonged engagement with a mixture of the Tusken raiders and forces presumed to have come from Arnay and/or Dola.

Having regrouped, we spoke to the Naw elder while another group retrieved fuel from Herati. We were informed of a group trying to return to Zaranj, but needing fuel for their truck.

There were also unconfirmed reports of looters occupying Zaranj, and suggestions that we might help protect the town. Omar, the Landay elder may be willing to pay for this protection, as we suspect he is running the local marijuana trade.

Having successfully delivered the fuel to Naw, the tanker returned to Herati to refuel, bound for Tebbi. Meanwhile the other group were able to destroy the remaining sniper elements overlooking the dig site.

The fuel truck was attacked by a small group south of Tebbi, and we regrouped, encountering a local armed with stun grenades, who succumbed to his wounds. The Tebbi elder was grateful for the fuel delivery, but asked if we’d seen his town sheriff. We couldn’t confirm if there was a link between the unfortunate prankster and this sheriff, so plead ignorance.

The villagers in the town may not have considered our debt fully paid, as one made off with one of our SUVs. Unable to catch him, we returned to base. On the way back, we witnessed a car crashing into a wall and exploding, which bore similarity to one of our armoured SUVs that had been lost previously.
