Operation 18 - Scorpion Sting

Dola had it coming.

Summary

2 UAZ's driving through the desert

Having not seen or heard from the Maku commander in the month we were out of country, and suspecting he was holed up in Dola, we hatched a plan to assault the walled city in the hopes we could destroy or capture him and his remaining forces.

Using the two camouflaged UAZs we had recovered in previous engagements, we made a recce pass. Driving these vehicles, Bastion were able to remain undetected as they passed through the city, estimating enemy force numbers and equipment and relaying this to Citadel and Defiance.

On exchanging this intel, it was decided that Citadel would attempt to draw enemy forces to the North gate with an open assault, using the nearby cover and vehicles to hold out as long as was necessary until Bastion and Defiance could infiltrate undetected, under the guise of either QRF or another passing patrol, and begin flanking the enemy as they moved to support their forces in the North.

Citadel were able to neutralise the enemy forces stationed at the North gate, and began sweeping the northern sectors. Bastion and Defiance entered from the South shortly after this engagement, and capitalised on the confusion, dispatching the remaining enemies and sustaining minimal casualties.

After a short sweep of the more central buildings, it was concluded that the commander had not been present, and upon being engaged by a BTR armoured personnel carrier from the Southern road, it became clear his main force must be garrisoned further South.

NATO were kind enough to provide Close Air Support to neutralise this armoured threat before it could do us any serious harm. Meanwhile Haven squad prepared to relieve the squads on the ground, assuming control of defensive operations and establishing an impromptu forward base of operations.
